After playing two pre-season games as part of their Asian Tour 2011, Liverpool's defence looks like it needs some bolstering.
Saturday's 6-3 win over Malaysia was their second successive game where the Reds defence leaked in three goals. The team had earlier defeated Guangdong Sunray Cave 4-3 in China.
However, assistant manager Steve Clarke was not worried.
"We're still really early into pre-season and the players have done no real high-intensity work, so the matches are a little difficult for them as they lacked a little bit of sharpness," the former Chelsea coach told Yahoo! Southeast Asia after the match.
"We know what we have to work on. We've obviously got a lot to do defensively. We also have a lot of work to do in midfield and attack. You don't just blame the defence or the goalkeepers for conceding goals. It's a team game and a collective thing," he added.
However, the Tigers had the home fans cheering by pulling two goals back before succumbing to two more goals in injury time to make the final score 6-3.
"The Malaysian team made us work very hard. They were competitive but very fair. They made some strong challenges in the game but all with an honesty to it. I think they performed really well and should be delighted with scoring three goals," said Clarke.
